Media Design Research

(This page documents the former research fellowship programme of the Piet Zwart Institute - for information on the ongoing Media Design Master study programme, go here.)

Media Design Research programme at Piet Zwart Institute existed from 2003 to 2006. Its purpose was to develop critical thinking and activity in Media Design through a series of Research fellowships, publications and seminars. Further details and outcomes of these activities are available in the respective elements of this site.

The research area of the Media Design Research programme is located at the point of intersection between technological, theoretical and practice-based research in the tradition of art and design and located in the area of computational and networked digital media. The programme helped to develop experimental projects which utilise and facilitate such interrelations with the aim of finding new opportunities and perspectives on contemporary technological culture. These qualities of the research area have co-determined the character of our research projects and vice versa.
